Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was named the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She was part of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first journalist to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as the Iran Contra saga. She traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
